A little love for our furry friends

We are huge fans of the Pixie Project in Portland, and would like to send some love their way.
From now, through November 11th, we will be donating 35% of all sales from our online webshop to them.

A little about the Pixie Project:
The Pixie Project is a non-profit animal adoption center and supply store. Their mission is to help alleviate overcrowding at high-intake county shelters by taking adoptable animals and helping them find forever homes. Helping out the shelters means more animals get a second chance.

The donation we will be making from your orders will go to help them keep doing what they do. Please join us in helping the Pixie Project and our sweet furry friends.

Where there is a will.....

There is always a way. I tell you, sometimes I find myself in the craziest predicaments. Sometimes I go through great lengths to get orders completed and find that it is indeed very possible to hand dot every period on an invitation when the plate makers fail me, add color pencil in one little spot when the paper rubs off, and in this case....hand paint 12 pillow cases when the original plan didn't work out.

This was truly one of my favorite orders of all time and a complete gem and highlight this year. I will post a complete detailed bit on all of the pieces from this order tomorrow. But for now, here is a photo of 3 of the 12 pillows I painted. I originally agreed to coordinate transferring my illustrations to these pillow cases via a much more conventional method, but when that fell through....and it was 2 days before the wedding, I decided to hand paint them. And thank goodness it all worked out because there were no extras in case of disaster.

Social Networking

I've moved into this world of social networking like a snail...a teeny tiny baby snail. I was the last to start a blog, the last to set up a Studio Olivine page on Facebook, and the last to join twitter...which is still a mystery to me. I assume one day I will understand twitter, but for now, I just "tweet" ever week or two out of some sort of unwritten obligation.

Every once in a while, I get excited about all of this modern day marketing. Like today, when I set up a fan page for the annual Sunday Best Holiday Sale that I host. I adore this sweet sale so talking about it always puts a little skip in my step.

So, without further adieu, I kindly ask you.... to be our Facebook fan!
AND to celebrate your being a fan, if you become a facebook fan and send me an email message (including your facebook username so I can verify you as a fan) to orders@studio-olivine.com by October 24th....I will send you a treat in the mail! Be sure to include your name and mailing address. That's right! No strings attached. Just my little way of saying that I appreciate you.

Please be sure to include your facebook username so I can verify that you have become a fan.

The bounty continues

As if my utensil business card printing wasn't enough fun for one day, I just had a little more.
I was lucky to have been chosen by Albert Cerriteno, tremendously talented illustrator, to letterpress one of his pieces in a limited edition of 250. I just finished up his sample piece.
Isn't this beautiful? Again, my lucky day.
